The Center of the Korean Peninsula Beautiful Gapyeong County where Mountains and Rivers Harmonize
To the north, Hwaaksan (Mt.), which is the highest point of the Gwangju Mountain Range, sits as the guardian mountain over Chotdae-bong (peak), Mae-bong (peak), Gukmang-bong (peak), Gangssi-bong (peak), Myeongji-san (Mt.), Sudeok-san (Mt.) and Gyegwan-san (Mt.), and encompassing small and large summits at 700~800m above sea level, it displays it magnificent view. The numerous tributaries of Gapyeong-cheon and Jojong-cheon that snake around the valleys of these mountains all flow into Bukhangang (Riv.). To the south, Jungmisan, Hwayasan and Jeongnaksan mountains form a mountain range that extends to Yongmunsan and to the west, the mountain range continues on to Jugeumsan and Chuknyeongsan.
This area shares a border with Chuncheon City and Hongcheon County of Gangweon-do to the east, Namyangju City to the west, Yangpyeong County to the south and Pocheon County and Hwacheon County to the north. It is also located right in the middle of the Korean peninsula and is the center of Seoul to Chuncheon railways and roads, making it the best area for rest with mountains and rivers in the metropolitan area.

Gapyeong County is a mountainous inland city and has a continental climate. Furthermore, it is a mountainous area with severe extremes and the annual average temperature for the past 10 years is 11.2 C .
